“Be Part of the Solution’ – Empowering Underprivileged Women in Academia and Professional Careers Is Essential
In a world where gender equality is still a work in progress, empowering underprivileged women to pursue their dreams in academia and professional careers is more crucial than ever.
As we strive for a more inclusive and equitable society, organizations like Women Who Create (WWC) are making significant strides in breaking down barriers and providing opportunities for women from all walks of life.
At the forefront of this movement is Dr. Natanya Wachtel, the board chair of Women Who Create, an organization dedicated to supporting and uplifting women of color in various fields. As an award-winning B2B2C entrepreneur with an extensive background in building digital platforms for some of the largest brands in healthcare, and consumer tech, Natanya brings her passion for innovation and mentorship to the table, striving to bring positive change for underprivileged women.
Women Who Create is a non-profit organization and a community of innovative women of color who offer a supportive environment for their peers to thrive, gain mentorship, find inspiration, and feel a sense of community.
The organization provides inspiration, celebrates accomplishments, fosters skill development, and opens doors for women of color to establish careers in their respective fields. “My passion is helping women gain the skills and confidence they need to reach success in their careers, as well as advocating for diversity and inclusion,” as noted by the founder and executive director of WWC, Shaunah Margaret.
By creating an environment that encourages growth and self-expression, Women Who Create plays a crucial role in today’s society, promoting inclusivity and equity for all. The organization seeks to provide resources, guidance, and mentorship to women of color who may have limited access to networks or funding opportunities
In the modern world, initiatives like Women Who Create are vital in addressing the disparities faced by underprivileged women, particularly those who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color).
“We work with young women and those who identify as BIPOC… who are not afraid to express themselves in their dress, language, makeup, and openness about who they are and what they care about,” said Dr. Natanya. “It empowers me. It’s a shift. We still have work to do, but I see positive change with the younger generations helping to push Gen X and Boomers to shift our mindsets, which inspires me.”
In addition to her work with WWC, she is involved with other organizations that help her achieve her goals, including Inspiring My Generation a nonprofit for youth suicide prevention founded by Fran Reicherter, where she serves as a founding board member.
With a focus on generational and psychosocial health, Dr. Natanya’s work on impact measurement and thorough ethnographic research demonstrates her dedication to inclusivity and evidence-based wellness. Her main venture, New Solution Network, is an extension of her mission. It collaborates with health and wellness brands to address their most pressing business issues by applying cutting-edge methods in customer psychology, behavioral modeling, and technological advancement to facilitate commercialization and customer-centric market leadership.
Societies only benefit when everyone is given the opportunity to succeed, and Dr. Natanya Wachtel’s involvement in Women Who Create represents a step toward achieving this goal. Leveraging her 20 years of experience, the way she is changing the face of innovation through her work with the WWC organization is inspiring and admirable.
As Dr. Natanya puts it, “Rather than point fingers at the things that are wrong and the injustices we see in our society, let us be part of the solution by lifting each other up. Together, we can make a difference.”
